Chris Puts together his 2012 Playlist.

The easiest way for me to put the year in music together is to just go through what music I’ve downloaded in the past year and find the songs that I’ve played more than once.  I think outside of finding a song on the Big K.R.I.T album that I still play (because I reference the mixtapes more than anything) Everything else has been referenced way more than once on my itunes or google play or whatever. I’ve said all year that this has been a great time for music and anyone who says something different, is basically lost and doesn’t really listen to shit new. Here is the list that I’ve came up with. You won’t see ASAP and the Game on my list, because I haven’t listened to their albums yet. But at any rate this is what I was on this year. If you are interested in downloading some of this, click on my picture at the end of the list and you will be able to get a link from there. Here is the list in no order at all:

Robert Glasper Experiment - Gonna Be Alright

Slaughter House - Flip A Bird

Meyhem Lauren - Grown Man Pallets

Action Bronson - Mike Vick

Lupe Fiasco - Lamborghini Angels

Gregory Porter - Be Good

Rick Ross - 3 Kings

Robert Glasper Experiment - Afro Blue - Remix

Kendrick Lamar - Bitch Dan’t Kill My Vibe

Rapsody - Beautiful Music

Childish Gambino - American Royalty

Freddie Gibbs - The Hard

Frank Ocean - Pyramids

Kanye West - The Morning

Blue & Exile - The Only One

Foster the People - Pumped up Kicks

Sean Price - Bully Rap

Cocaine 80’s - Queen to Be

This time of year usually is my favorite time of year. This will be the first time that I will be just pushing though till the new year. This will be a reminder that the world is cold that you pretty much have to adapt in order to make it. Since I am out here on my own if I don’t figure out how to make it and deal with the refreshed pain that came that comes with losing a love one. I’m gonna be pretty quiet outside of posting music this week, only because I sort of need to find a way to properly pay homage to her memory.

I think it is safe to say that Pet Sounds wasn’t made for me to enjoy. Four guys from California talking about surfin and other shit that blacks really weren’t doing in the 60’s when we where too focused on fighting for rights and freedom and a fair shake. But today, when you get the album you learn to respect the message that they are trying to present to the country about how life could be better if we where older and wiser and how God can sometimes be the only one who can understand your true feelings. And because of that and other reasons I figured that this song off of pet sounds would be a great way to end #oldwhiteshitchrislistens2 week…

The day can’t end with out me blessing you with this edition of old White Shit Chris listens 2.  And this edition is near and dear to my heart. Nico was introduced to me in 2001 Thanks to Wes Anderson. I went back to her and went in depth went I was looking for music to grieve to. I don’t use this song for that purpose but I do have another one her tracks that I listen to when I reflect on the life of my sister. But I enjoy Nico’s music and If you give it a chance you might consider it not shitty.

Paul Simon really has classics across a wide span of music, but I know him best for the You can Call Me Al Video, featuring everyone’s favorite whiny comedian Chevy Chase. But once I started hearing his songs on classic rock radio and on tv in random places I have gained a respect for his whole catalog of older music. I think my favorite song is homeless featuring, Ladysmith Black Mambazo. But I enjoy this one as well. Reminds me of running the streets of Holiday Park with my friends as a child. The Freedom of having a group of people that wouldn’t judge you and would let you do you no matter what…..

Went with a song that I’ve been referencing every now and then for some random ass reason. I think it reminds me of what I want my next girlfriend to be. Someone who is smart, adventurous, cute and not on that bullshit. And If I am lucky she will look something like this…

But if she doesn’t thats cool. As long as we can take over the world together that would be nice.

I had never heard this song before going out to the Power Plant and other random places that give you booze discounts if you wear arm bands. At any rate, here you go.
